Colon Problems Natural Health Healing TipsBarberry Rootbark
This herb, named barberry rootbark contains berberine, a bitter alkaloid that aids in the secretion of bile and is good for liver health, acts as a mild purgative, helps regulate the digestive processes, and improves insulin sensitivity. The antibacterial properties of berbamine, another alkaloid found in barberry, have shown activity against Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Salmonella, Shigella also E. coli. It has anti-microbial properties that are especially beneficial for the skin and intestinal tract. And finally, barberry has a beneficial effect on blood pressure by causing a dilatation of the blood vessels. Also barberry decreases heart rate, depresses the breathing, stimulates intestinal movement for natural colon cleansing, and reduces bronchial constriction. Ginger
It has been well noted that herbal experts from around the world have recommended ginger as a natural treatment for colon problems. Because it is a carminative herb, it can stimulate the secretion of digestive juices which are essential for normal digestion. This process will also help in the elimination of toxins and digestive waste which are stuck in the colon. In order to maximize the potential of this herb, you can combine it with relaxing herbs such as fennel seed and lemon balm. Also another good combination is ginger and the herb senna. This mixture will clean the colon thoroughly as the latter stimulates peristalsis. Just be careful not to take these when you are pregnant or you are allergic to such herbs. For best results, you can consult your doctor regarding the use of ginger root. And ginger root supplements (see vitamins, etc.) are available in capsule form (if not other form) for added convienience. Please remember that (in case one were using other prescription medications) it's always a good thing to first consult with a healthcare practitioner (or doctor) before starting any new treatment (either naturopathic or homeopathic doctor, best).
